The White Witch of Narnia Costume Guide
The White Witch of Narnia costume is a fantastic look to choose and especially for a winter themed party since most of the styling for this character relates to this ice cold season.
Jadis is the White Witch Villain from the The Chronicles of Narnia books and movies. Although most people associate her very heavily with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, we first learn about this character in The Magician's Nephew written by C.S. Lewis.
Unfortunately, there is no easy or quick way to buy a ready made costume that comes with this look in mind and especially for adults and women to wear. Luckily, I have plenty of ideas below to help you put your whole outfit together.

In The Magician's Nephew book, we discover where this evil and powerful White Witch character comes from and how she ends up in Narnia. She ends up enforcing a deathly cold winter for 100 years. That's until the Pevensie children and Aslan the lion break her curse in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
In the 2005 The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie, we saw Jadis the White Witch in no less than 7 amazing outfits donned by the actress Tilda Swinton. Each choice of dress made her look like the powerful character that she played.
❄️ The first costume we see her in is in the Turkish Delight scene where she meets Edmund Pevensie. The dress is a long white gown which gradually turns icy blue towards the skirt section.
This gown is very stiff and not at all delicate. Over the top she wears a long, white fur wrap. The costume represents her immense power as the White Witch of Narnia.

The White Witch movie outfit was painstakingly created out of multiple layers of silk, felted wool and organza. Over the top is a magnificent overlay of lace.
Trying to recreate a dress like this movie one would be a little difficult to achieve but it is doable if you use an existing white dress as the base.
❄️ A Jadis dress could be fashioned from an old wedding, bridesmaid, party or even a prom dress that is white. The accessories that you wear with the dress will mark you out much more as this Chronicles of Narnia villain.
A white, silver or pale, ice blue dress should make the perfect choice for your White Witch of Narnia costume. Just be careful not to add in too much blue or people will mistake you for Princess Elsa from Frozen instead. Stick to very pale ice blues if you choose to add in this color at all to your costume.

As Jadis is the queen of all things cold and unbearably icy, her white fur wrap is a really obvious accessory choice and she wears one with 3 of her 7 outfit changes in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
With the first gown in the movie, she wears a long fur wrap or mantle that is long enough to wrap around Edmund as he sits in her sleigh with her.
With other dresses, she wears shorter stoles and wraps to cover her shoulders up. Later on, Jadis wears badger pelts around her shoulders and then Aslan the lions fur when she goes to war with his supporters and the Pevensie children.
There are some fantastic faux fur wraps, shawls and even shrugs that could work beautifully with your own choice of outfit.

It's not what Jadis wears, but I really like the look of this long and regal looking hooded cloak. This design has such a commanding presence to it and can be worn over many styles of dresses, gowns or even pants and top.
A flowing white, pale blue or silver color cloak is an excellent choice for an ice queen of Narnia costume. You could wear any combination of white, ice blue, pale gray and silver colored clothes underneath a long cloak.
Being dressed in mostly white with just a few pale blue, silver and sparkling accents is the very best choice in order to give that sense of cold and winter.
White Witch of Narnia Crown Made of Icicles

In the 1st Narnia movie, the White Witch wears a crown that is made up of icicles. During the course of the story, as winter slowly turns to spring, these icicles start to melt until they are just stubs. You could use a silver sparkling crown or tiara to achieve this icicle look.
Use a hot glue gun technique to make a DIY icicle or snow themed crown to wear. You can hot glue some icicles on a wire base to get the right look for this winter queen. Here's a written tutorial with pictures or see the video below for a different approach.

The White Witch Costume Narnia Wand
You used to be able to buy a full scale replica wand from Weta but I only occasionally see this pop up via auction sites. The wand of Jadis looks just like a silver color spear.
A silver spear is the perfect look for this evil character. A costume accessory that has a sharpened point to it might not be the best idea to wear as part of a costume from a safety point of view. There are wands that you can get that will look good instead.

Alternatively, to get that more menacing Jadis look, you could buy a prop spear and spray paint it silver and black like the movie replica version.
Hairstyle of Jadis the Witch
To recreate the look of the hair that Tilda rocks in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie, you'd need some long and dark blonde dreadlocks to start with. When wearing her white dress gowns, she had her dreadlocked hair worn twisted to one side or pushed up and swept away from her very pale facial skin.
In her battle dress during the war scenes, the hair of Jadis was not in dreadlocks. Instead it was long and straight and had the appearance and the color of a lion's mane. She also wore some of Aslan's fur around her shoulders to terrify her enemies and demonstrate that she was more powerful than the lion. Her dress in this is made of chainmail.
You could opt instead to wear a long white or platinum blonde wig or hairstyle. On top of this you can then display a snow themed crown or tiara. Silver hair could look really magical and beautiful with this choice of costume.
I'm sure white or silver hair would be far better than the actual dreadlock styling which is worn in the 1st Narnia movie. But you can buy dreadlock wigs as well if you want to. Look for a blonde or lighter brown wig.
Snowflakes make great jewelry accessories to choose that are bang on theme. As well as necklaces, you can get earrings with snowflake patterns too. Nothing shows the winter season look better than some sparkling snowflake accessories to work with your styling.

Hi there :)
Nice look you put together!
However, you have my wands on your page, attributed to the wrong person, even though the link does in fact, take you to my shop.
I do a lot of custom work, and these wands made in frozen princess colors, actually began as an Ice Queen wand for a Narnia party.
Please fix your attribution and link?
Thanks a bunch for the feature!
